CAMEROON: Cameroon Lawyers diversify opinions on the FECAFOOT affair

facfoot 1

The decision of FIFA in creating another normalization committee to manage Cameroon football till February 2018 wasn’t surprising to some Cameroon lawyers.

“I think that it is a matter of respect of the law because is not the first time for the Cameroonian football association to have a normalization committee, I think that Cameroonians should show that they are able to do better than before. The new committee is supposed to manage the federation until the new election. Am not surprise, am not disappointed, I just hope that things will be different from the way they were before” says one of the Cameroon lawyers Alain Nguini.

Others seem not satisfied with this decision by FIFA at a point in time when preparation for AFCON 2019 in Cameroon is generating its steam.

“CAF is doing all it has to take away the AFCON 2019 hosting rights from Cameroon if not so, what then justifies this problem which has been existing for 2 years now.Why is it only today that such allegations are being made. We may have our differences but what is important now is the 2019 AFCON. We should not be distracted with this present issue” says a diehard football fan.

Nevertheless the wish of Cameroonians is to see this black cloud pricking Cameroon football comes to an end soonest.

SPORTS: The Cameroon Football Federation FECAFOOT affair gets emotional

The Cameroon Football Federation

At the Cameroon Football Federation FECAFOOT head office in Yaounde, Security Forces deployed Wednesday to foster security and secure the building had greatly reduced yesterday. It was an emotional scene as none of the affected willing to speak to the media; getting into the building proved elusive; access was restricted as reported by equinox radio.

The Press scrambled for information following the sack of FECAFOOT Boss Tombi A Roko Sidiki on Thursday. The issue has resulted to a number of meetings in Yaounde.

The shock for FIFA to create another Normalisation committee seems to have brought government to its senses; that those who opposed the Tombi A Roko election at the time and were dismissed as pessimists, had a point.

FECAFOOT has now become a kind of Media Sensitive as unconfirmed rumours have it that FIFA may be coming to Yaounde next week to put in place the new Normalisation Committee; an exercise which observers say will likely pave the way for the most obvious succession of Tombi A Roko as President of the Cameroon Football Federation FECAFOOT.

BREAKING NEWS: FIFA enters FECAFOOT’s 18m box, dribbles the Court of Arbitration before Finally Declaring Tombi A Roko Sidiki Off-side

FECAFOOT

The Headquarters of the Cameroon Football Federation FECAFOOT has been in a tensed atmosphere with security forces notably from the National Gendarmerie and the Police surrounding the office in the Nations Political Capital Yaounde. This is coming after the World Football governing body FIFA dissolved the current FECAFOOT governing body and appointed a normalization committee to manage the affairs of the Cameroon football federation.

This is in accordance to article 14 Paragraph 1a and article 8 paragraph 2 of the FIFA status and the decision is in connection with the confirmation by the sports arbitration court of the annulment of the elections process that led to the installation of the current executive team of FECAFOOT in 2015 by the arbitration and conciliation chambers of the National Olympic and Sports Committee.

Since then it has been a very difficult task for FIFA to reconcile football stakeholders in the Country. The newly created committee will run the daily affairs of FECAFOOT and draft a new status of FECAFOOT, review the status of Regional and Divisional Leagues and ensure these is in line with FECAFOOT regulations. They will also be charged with identifying delegates of the FECAFOOT general assembly and of the Regional and Divisional Leagues; and organize and conduct elections of a new football governing executive body.

The Committee will compose of members to be identified by a joint FIFA and CAF mission to visit Cameroon in the days to come and acting.

Acting as an elections organizing committee, its members of the newly created normalization committee shall not be eligible to run for any of the open positions in the Association. The Mandate of the Committee will expire not later than February 28 2018.

This news has come as a relief to many foootball lovers like Hamadou Babba Abdouraman President of Etoile Filante de Garoua who has been at Loggerheads with the Tombi A Roko led FECAFOOT since 2015.

Neymar the Brazilian star is at the verge of making a move to Paris Saint Germain in the French League; a move described by many as motivated by money. This means Neymar will be paid £500,000 which is equivalent to 365,695,970.88 FCFA if he accepts to leave FC Barcelona for a less heralded league 1 in France.

Many have questioned whether such a move is worth it including the Real Madrid Champions League winner Christiano Ronaldo. He has warned Neymar that it is too early to move to France and it will have negative effects on his career; he adds that the Brazilian Super Star should either remain in Barcelona or wait for Manchester United if he wants his career to strive.
